Waterfalls in the Grampians

MacKenzie Falls

Discover stunning waterfalls all around the Grampians region. MacKenzie Falls is one of Victoria’s largest and most spectacular waterfalls. Beehive Falls is smaller but just as beautiful, especially in spring when it is often surrounded by wildflowers and Tilwinda Falls is another pleasant seasonal waterfall. Head west to two more exceptional waterfalls, Nigretta and Wannon Falls, which are linked by a scenic road and best viewed between June and October.

MacKenzie Falls

MacKenzie Falls is one of four falls in the MacKenzie River Gorge. It flows all year round, but is best viewed between June and October. After rain, torrents of water cascade over huge cliffs into a deep pool, sending fine sprays of rainbow mist high into the air above a stunning gorge. Forty minutes drive from Halls Gap on the Mount Victory Road.

Beehive Falls

Best after rain, this picturesque waterfall drops 25 metres into sheltered rock pools surrounded by ferns. Visit in spring when it is often surrounded by pink and white Grampians Thryptomene flowers A 30-minute drive from Halls Gap on the Mount Zero Road.

Tilwinda Falls

A pleasant walk takes you to a seasonal waterfall, best after rain. The track gently climbs through a shady forest to the head of the gully before becoming steeper as it zig zags up to Tilwinda Falls. A 30-minute drive from Halls Gap on the Roses Gap Road.

Silverband Falls

A gentle graded walk takes you to this beautiful waterfall within a ferny oasis. The silver bank of water drops over mossy rocks, disappears underground and then reappears downstream. A 15-minute drive from Halls Gap on the Silverband Road.

Wannon Falls

The Wannon Falls feature a spectacular 30 metre vertical precipice of hardened basalt lava over which water cascades into a deep plunge pool below. The turn-off to the falls is 15 kilometres west of Hamilton on the Glenelg Highway.

Nigretta Falls

Nigretta Falls is a small waterfall set in outstanding scenery. It has excellent viewing areas with barbecue facilities and picnic tables and a stairway leading to the base of the falls. Water pools provide excellent secluded swimming and fishing spots. To access the falls, 17 kilometres west of Hamilton, follow the signage from the Glenelg Highway.
