Against the spectacular backdrop of the Grampians National Park is one of Australia’s most historical and acclaimed wine regions. Born out of the tumultuous gold era of the 1860’s, the Grampians wine industry has triumphed and continues to win accolades and recognition in Australia wide and overseas.

Today, the Grampians wine region includes the wineries around Ararat, Stawell, Great Western, Buangor, Hamilton and Halls Gap, with neighbouring regions such as the Pyrenees and Ballarat within an hour's drive.

The region is best known for its sparkling and table wines, but in particular Shiraz, recently acknowledged with three of the top twenty Australian Shiraz’s coming from the Grampians region – namely Seppelt, Best’s and Mt Langi Ghiran.

The diversity of soils, altitude, forest / grazing country and rainfall gives the regional style uniqueness and longevity.

The soft silky Great Western reds have proven their pedigree over the past 130 years and now a wave of new vineyards and being established, embellishing this reputation.

Today, established wineries such as Seppelt, Best’s, Mt Langi Ghiran, Montara, Garden Gully and Donovan wines are being joined by the new generation contemporary wineries Kimbarra, Westgate, The Gap, Grampians Estate and Clayfield.

Visitors to cellar doors in the area can experience first hand the flavours of the region, where the grapes are tended with loving care to produce wines of distinction.

Each of the cellar doors offers a friendly welcome and its own unique ambience.

The Grampians Winemakers are dedicated to the making of fine wine, a combination of skill and commitment that reveals itself in every bottle.
