| As the name implies, the Long Room is one long room. Boy, is it long. However, the whole enormous space is a veritable homage to all that's easily imbibed and deviously delicious. Grab a stool at the sushi bar for some fresh Japanese cuisine or sit down with some amigos to indulge in a selection of traditionally prepared Spanish plates in the tapas bar. With so many choices, who could blame you for bringing your alarm clock and settling in for the night?
During the week the Long Room is as respectable as any Free Masons' meeting, with staff lavishing patrons with full table service - and I mean 'full'. The weekend is when you can catch some of Melbourne's finest DJs, or 'spinners' as the kids call them, keeping pulses raised with an infectious selection of house and progressive beats.
The main floor is littered with New York-inspired leather sofas and ottomans, all sectioned into semi-secluded coves with wrought iron grills. For a bit more privacy you can book one of the many booths and draw the curtains for whatever shenanigans you'd like to get up to. Don't forget to order some lychee martinis as fuel.
You may be forgiven for thinking you've stepped into a fashionista milieu on most nights, but the crowd is never less than Melbourne's hippest kids.
